Travel, Virgin Atlantic No Comments »So you’re looking to fly to New York, you want the best deal on flights so you’ve got more money to spend on accommodation and SHOPPING whilst you’re over there. Well in our experience £250 for a return flight to New York is dirt cheap, £400 is about average, whilst you can expect to pay in excess of £800 if you want to fly first class. Prices tend to vary dramatically according to time of year as the graph from Kayak.co.uk below shows:
Just be wary of the lure of cheap flights that involve one or more changes en route, although these might save you £50+ at first sight, they can end up costing you valuable hours when you look at the amount of time you have in New York! Flights with changes are on average 2-3 hours longer than those that go direct - if you need to change on both the outbound and inbound journeys then you can be looking at 6 hours LESS time in the Big Apple. This is not to say do not consider flights with changes, but always bear in mind the cost to your time away.
